    hello!

how is the correct workflow flow motion blur?, so in my case, i have rendered Background CGI, hero Obj CGI, im kinda confused where shuold i apply the MB,

    should i do this?

    B A
(motion blur the BG) merge over ( motion blur the Obj)

or merge first and then apply motion blur?

why should i use vector blur rather than RSMB? whats is pro and cons?

    any reply very appreciated..

    Regards

If you compositing CGI It's better to render vector pass and use it in compositing. you don't need to turn on motion blur in render time because it's heavy to render. That's why we use vector pass. In nuke use VectorBlur node and use motion channel from uv channel drop down to apply blur to Image. First merge your images and then apply blur. RSMB apply blur based on the pixel movements. It's not accurate as vector pass. In vector pass render engine save exact data about object movement in the pass. hope helped you.

hi, thanks for replying, what about zdpeth & motion blur?in this case im rendering enviroment + char + some foreground stuff, and aiming some dof & good MB, if a apply zdepth pass to beauty pass, for bluuring, then the vectorpass become have outlined value

if i MB first, and apply MB to zdepth, the zdepth artifact is occur, i dont know what is the best method...

Which software are you using for comping? I can help you with AE. Here's a simple example with velocity pass and zdepth from vray, in AE: RSMB(pro vectors) plug with Lenscare FL DOF:

DOF is applied before MB, if you apply MB first, you'll get jaggy edges, like this:
