MPC purchases 3DEqualizer4 site license (unlimited seats)
Latest 3DEqualizer site license customers includes MPC (the Moving Pictures Company).
Dortmund, GERMANY, 22nd March 2012 — Science.D.Visions today announced that MPC is the 4th major post-production facility after Double Negative, Cinesite and Weta Digital who acquired a site license of 3DEqualizer, their market leading 3D tracking solution.
MPC has been among earliest 3DEqualizer customers, with their engagement reaching back into year 1997. In fact, MPC's first 3DEqualizer license has serial number #35! Since then, the company constantly extended their use of 3DEqualizer, doing visual effects work for blockbuster shows such as the Harry Potter franchise, Troy, X-Men: First Class and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - to name just a few.
Jigesh Gajjar, Head Of Matchmove at MPC, said: "3DEqualizer is our primary matchmoving software package at MPC and we are delighted to now have the flexibility of a site license. It's a hugely powerful tool, able to handle a wide variety of complex shots while giving our artists a high degree of control when needed. We love features such as the ability to import metadata to aid the camera solves with animated interocular distance and zooms as this delivers great results. Solving multiple cameras at once has been a significant step forward since we can now reconstruct point data and generate a mesh where little or no survey data is available. The addition of Python scripting has been very welcome and has enabled us to easily develop custom tools to improve artist productivity."
Rolf Schneider, co-founder of Science.D.Visions, said, "We're totally blown away by 3DEqualizer4's success during the last 36 months. The latest site license deals are just the tip of the iceberg and reflect how dominate 3DE still is - even after 16 years! We take this advantage to invest in further innovative developments which we will begin to make available to our customers later this year with the release of 3DE4 R2..."
