sidefx internship

Hey guys I was thinking about joining the SideFX internship... I was just wondering if there were any of you who have done it before, and could give me some insight on what happened while there? Wondering how much advanced stuff they teach you, or is it more you learn yourself?

Hi Kenny,I personally never applied for SideFX's intern opportunities, but a have a few friends who did, this is what I know from what they've told me. As far as responsibilities go, I believe it's experimenting and documenting various Houdini features to be displayed in their HTML help and tutorial docs. A mentor assigns the work, and helps when required.You also help in the form of 'minion' during PR presentations (I happened to run into two of my friends in 2010 at Siggraph, they were holding down the SideFX booth).I believe the internship is a full year.. All three of them left the internship for a job job before that full year was up.It's a great opportunity from what I've gathered. Unlike many internships where you're just a wage-free PA slave, they actually prepare you for the industry and help you network.
