why is it that every time i use the actual motion vectors and apply it to either furnace motion blur or reel smart it never looks nearly as good as the automatic motion blur those 2 apps produce WITHOUT the vector pass?

it never looks very good when i pop in the actual vectors, i get edge artifacts, the motion blur seems to be moving incorrectly and or I get pops where the motion blur just pops in and out of an area....looks real crappy.

whenever i use the automatic solution it looks much more natural, the only drawback is that i have to apply it to the end of a comp or else i would not have consistency across my multiple passes since its only applying the automatic solution to the rgba pass.

    any ideas?

Im using, maya, vray and nuke

In such case nukes motionVector tool doesn't work quit nice. Try with matrix and edgeBlur node and play around with it to get good result. furnace motion blur or reel smart are works based on optical flow so its give you the nice result always, That's why these tools are too expensive ( time + money ).
