Here are some cool Gnomon training links:

Image Planes for Head Modeling in Maya
This free video tutorial, by Gnomon founder Alex Alvarez, covers tweaking default settings in Maya to get them to align correctly and not interfere with geometry views when importing orthographic image planes. (Note: the low-resolution video is hard to view; the full-res version is better.)

Water Flow using Paramaterization in Maya
In this free video tutorial, Gnomon's Darrin Krumweide discusses how to adjust the distribution of normal textures maps across NURB surfaces in Maya. In this tutorial the water flow around objects are controlled through changing the expansion, compression and direction of an animated texture map. (Note: the low-resolution video is hard to view; the full-res version is better.)

Using Snapping Tools in Maya
Another free video tutorial by Darrin Krumweide of Gnomon detailing how objects can be translated to specific locals in the Maya modeling environment. Topics covered are using hotkey and mouse controls to constrain an objects position using grid, curve, point and surface (live) snapping. (Note: the low-resolution video is hard to view; the full-res version is better.)

Spotlight Color in Maya
Gnomon's Alex Alvarez covers using settings to control how light emits from a spotlight: Penumbra, Dropoff and Barndoors. He also looks at alternate techniques for designing light emission by mapping a spotlight's color using procedural and file textures. (Note: the low-resolution video is hard to view; the full-res version is better.)

Glow Threshold in Maya
Gnomon's Darrin Krumweide disusses using Shader Glow in a scene, and how the glow intensity is determined per shader material. The Glow Threshold allows the less luminate areas to be clipped from glow, adding more local control over brilliant areas.

Sword/Scabbard Constraint Animation in Maya
Gnomon's founder Alex Alvarez discusses using point and aim constraints in Maya to animate a character removing a sword out of a scabbard.

Instancer Derived Level of Detail in Maya
Alex Alvarez of Gnomon shows how a runtime expression, the mag and linstep functions, can be used to drive particle instancer object indexing to derive a level of detail (LOD) optimization. With this technique, particle attributes can be driven based on the distance between a particle and any position in worldspace.
