Hello everyone,

I am a new guy to the forum and this is my first entry to the challenges.
Going to submit this shortly and would like to hear your feedback as I've been looking at it too much over the past couple of days.

Everyone seem to be generating oceans so I decided on a different approach and went out and filmed the sea in HD.

Put together using photoshop and after effects.

It looks nice. The shot does de-emphasize the supplied plate, so that's a bit of a shame. You could have done the shot without it, so the added value of the plate is questionable, but apart from that, there's lots of nice stuff in there.

Thought, at this size, I am not sure about how much the added imagedetail from HD will add, but that's not that important. Now if only I had the sea nearby...what camera do you use for shooting by the way?

I'm studying for a Master's at college and I shot using their Sony HDV-Z1E. Doing this project is a welcome distraction from my dissertation. Actually, everything at the moment is a distraction to my dissertation- football, weather, women enjoying the weather, etc.

I have a full res version that I may link to on my website. It maintains a lot more detail that is lost in the size reduction, need to play around with compression settings . For example, in the distance I composited a series of Wind-turbines as I thought the year 3000 would have more of an emphasis on clean energy, they are a bit unclear in the small scale render.

I was also playing with the lensblur filter in AE to create a more filmic look. I like the result but it may be contributing to the de-emphasis you question. I'll play a little more if I have time before the deadline for entry.
