My suggestion for a future vfx challenge is:

Now there's a fun idea! Bring your own food. It's Sesame street all over again: 'let's work together to make a sandwich'

I just started noticing no one has any new ideas for a month and a half or so …
Well by some reason I can’t come up with any thing as well.
Any one knows of some challenges with no prizes involved?

What about a challenge where I'm the winner?

No, just kidding. What would be cool to do is a general theme. For instance:

The theme is " Sudden Canyon ".

There is a timerange given ( for example: 30 seconds max ) and everyone has to go out and shoot a piece of live action themselves ( eg. Their own front door ). Then they would have to composit the canyon ( that has suddenly appeard out of nowhere ) into the footage themselves. That way maybe we would learn something about shooting for VFX? Maybe do some 3D tracking and make a 3D matte? Is there a Personal Learning Edition of any 3D tracking software? I'm still using Icarus but that's for PC only and can only export to Lightwave. Suggestions and strangers welcomed!

    Just a tought.

The idea sound good but don’t forget not all of us have a good video camera handy at home and renting one is not cheap as well (here in Toronto it is not).
But I think most of us would agree that if you supply footage we can try and manage.

PS: I have some room on my server to spear if you need to host it.

    Hi

And what about an underwater challenge?
2D compositors and 3D compositors could have fun doing this.
No particular subject, just a theme, as this we could see a lot of different final materials.

I just have pictures in head, no sharp idea.
I've always been attracted by things that are not supposed to be in some places... (A little weird, I know...)
In that case, for exemple, we could use materials from the surface and place them into an underwater environement, as if it was the place they were supposed to live in.
To picture it, take a bird and make it fly under the sea. (I'm not high, no no...) It would be a real challenge of integration and imagination.

It is just a suggestion, and only my 2nd post on this forum...

ok guys lets ante up for the next challenge... here at vfxtalk we kind of like the idea of alterating between something heavily skill based like the current challenge and something cool and flashy like the ghostrider but both really vfx based...

so its cool and flash time what do you guys think we should do? i'm thinking something spiderman based?

although i also thought this would be really interesting...

    Hi everybody,

Spiderman sounds interesting but I think that underwater challenge is a great idea, too. There must be that one on another time.
