Pfooh...this was a really tough call. I think it's one of the first ones where I didn't vote for my own entry

    guiillt
One of the nicest as far as cameramove/sea concerned. Just not enough y3K.

    Silver
Nice concept. It just wasn't as good technically as some of the others.

    Cedro
Really nice fly-in. Love the birds. The building and the boat not so much. The water could have been a little better.

    KaptenBuse
A nice idea. I like the painting work you put in it, but there's too much stretching in the textures and the camera move could have been better.

    Nebel
Great shot. But where's the original image? I agree that it's not very likely that the building would have survived a 1000 years, but that was the assignment.

    mike beckman
I can't believe the Fusion tree you created. I really appreciate the effort, but in the end it still felt a little 'flat' no pun intended. It all looks pretty nice, just a little too static.

    Paranoiker
Pretty nice overall. Didn't care too much for the particles. I'd love to have Maya just for the push-a-button-and-it's-there- Sea shader. Just not enough Y3K.

    rumplefeik
On the whole pretty decent. It just felt a little too much like a zoom and not so much a fly-in and I found it a shame that you lost the original image as quick as you did.

    snarkle
No words necessary. Great to have you back, S.

    apoc519
Very cool. This was more or less what I would have liked to achieve if I had had the time (or maybe even the talent) Also I like it that the original image was preserved, yet changed at the same time.

    Avalon
Really nice shot. Pretty good work. Just not enough of the original image to my liking.

    cbadvanced
Nice to see someone who went the other way, but in the end it was a little too cardboard cutout to my taste.

    DigitallyInsane
Pretty cool shot. Just not enough of a fly-in. Not y3K enough for me.

    johnc
Again a bit of a shame that not all of the given image remains, but enough to be recognized. I also like the extension of the rocksurface and the fact that you've given y3K a lot of thought. The design feels a little more 'naturally progressed' from where we are right now.

    drswoboda
It's all pretty decent, but it does suffer a little from the 'Disneyesque' multiplane look, especially since the other elements didn't feel too y3K. Also the cameramove could have been a little smoother.

    JohnnyBlaze
Lots of good stuff in there. But in the end just not enough of a fly-in to win me over.

    whishkah
Welcome to the club. Next time, try to wait for the longer renders. It will pay off.

    echarelle
Nice start, but videoquality could be better. And it does feel a little more like a zoom and not as much a fly-in. Also the Y3K aspect could have been a little better.

    ShadowMaker SDR
Well, who let this clown in? :-) Seriously though, this could have been better as well. I like the camera move and the damage done to the hotel. But the integration of the elements could have been better and there's just not enough detail in the shot. No dust. Where does the water go....that kind of stuff.

    raeshao
Very nice comp. Love the seashot. The hoverthingee would have benefitted (sp?) from some motion blur and I think I see some glitches in the waves that look like it's looping or crossfading or something, I'm not sure. Definitely in my top3 though.

So...can anyone guess who gets my vote?

Wow! Thanks SdR for all the input its great. July's challenge will be my first, I wanted to get in on this one but just didn't set aside the time. Looking at submissions and reading comments like these are great, simple, and straightforward info that really help me know what to keep in mind when I attempt these challenges.

I actually lean towards guiillt’s submission as it is most accurate to rules short 3k even..not sure yet

    mmmmm anyway to change votes??
I must say guiillt's one seems the most natural and smooth (as in non-tacky/non-blocky) but lacks the emphasis of year 3000...but who cares!!!

so far seems like guiillt, apoc519 and DigitallyInsane have biggest chance

I wish I had looked at that example video before I did my thing. Since I did my shot exactly on the last day, I just looked at other submissions and thought a simple camera move would be enough.
    but hey.... that's my fault.

Interesting to see how the voting is going so far. There are a couple up there I thought would have been doing a little bit better. All solid entries. It's hard to vote for just one.

yeah, it was very hard to pick one. I have to say I also voted for the one I thought was coolest instead of one of the other ones who followed the brief a bit more closely.

I'm very happy that this challenge got so many entries, I hope I can get one in next month and help the challenges become more and more popular!

    great job everyone!

I'm surprised JohnC's entry isn't doing better. I thought it was one of the better conceived and executed ones, while mostly sticking to the brief as well. Go figure.

I'm pretty impressed with the number of entries but at the same time I'm a little dissapointed with the voter turnout. Where is everyone?

actually compared to previous challenges that never came past 30 votes or so, this is a good start, but compared to the 100s or so supposed members of this site, it's not that much, I agree.
