Hello, people Im a shake beginner artist. Im currently checking out shakes keylight node. Im using a bluescreen footing , of a person and her hair is blowing around bigtime. Im trying to key the hair, and as soon as I add the keylight node to the bluescreen footage, it adds noise. Its like layer for noise thrown right across my bluescreen element. Theres also some blue spill, and the detail in the hair get a lot noisy or grainy/fuzzy.

Any ideas as to how I can tackle this issue.

    Thank you,

    A Fellow Artist.

what footage are you using? (4:4:4, 4:2:2, dv, ...), and maybe you can post a frame to give us an idea
Keying is something that should be 'tackled' differently depending on what exacly is in your footage so it's hard to give the perfect solution.
Maybe you can try to use a couple of keys, use a mask for the hair area and see if you can key the hair and the rest with different keyingsettings, with different spillsupressionsmethods, ...

then again ... "hair blowing around bigtime" and bluekey are never best of friends

Thank you for responding, appreciate it. Its actually DV footage, and probably not the best. Ive tried the method, of splitting the image and gettting results through different keys, but even that does not seem to work. Ive attahced the images , hopefully you can get a better idea.

    Thanks once again.

keying on DV footage is annoying, keying hair on DV footage is more annoying, keying moving hair on DV footage needs a miracle. Keying moving hair on DV footage with the shutterspeed you had is .... well ... i can only say "good luck" :P

you can try keying out the unspilled areas of the hair (the big chunks) and then have another layer with the blured parts, maybe even mask those parts out and feather them and supress the blue.
If you're gonne get anywhere, it's gonne be with a lot of trial and error though.
Maybe somebody else has a better idea ...

You seem to have some digital sharpening going on there in-camera... look at the dark line to the left of her arm.... This is also, I suspect, bringing out the grain more than it necessarily needs to.....

Hello Hugh, thanks for the response. Its a full res crop. Ive manged to get a good key as far as getting her body and face done. Its just the hair thats left. Ive heard keylight works best for hair. but in this case, its a tough one..........

Add a little blur to the UV channels to get better results with DV footage.
