We're desperately trying to make something cool to look at without displaying our blatantly obvious lack of real compositing skills.
It's all turned out to be kind of a tribute to old fifties scifi flicks, back when they really knew how to make Special Deffects!
see you soon

"...and here we put the sticks in the ice..."
just watched it, was funny! great musicbut you should've removed the string
![]()
Hehehe yeah! That was cool!
Movement of the earth was not very ...er... good.. it made the clip a bit too much B-Class ( I guess this was the goal too )...well at least the string should have been removed.
...but surely this was fun to watch and the explosion was pretty cool too! The introduction and musics were great!

The string was left on final composition to give the viewer a 50-movie special-d-effects movie. The movement of planet could of coarse be stabilized, but was not intended. Sorry you guys missed the “basic” idea L. We were never planning on winning this challenge since there are a lot more cool compositors than me. It was more a story/feel of old 50 movie. The title of challenge “blow up your world”, was just to funny J.
There will be a full explanation of composite on our site shortly (have to make screendumps/thumbnails), so you can see the different video takes, and outtakes J
Anyways...there are some great composites in this challenge…it will be very exiting to see the results J

Hey Vfxtalk….
Hope you know it was not intended to take pis of the challenge, but us.
The challenge concept is cool for learning and seeing other people’s work, and thanks for putting nice gifts in too.
So again - thank you very much for challenge.
Right from the beginning we knew what this vfx01 challenge should be like.
Maybe the next challenge will be more seriously... (
did you see the exit title in vfx01)
Cheers
