Hey. Just made myself a reel and would love to know what you think of it. A few non-vfx people have told me they think it's a bit too fast but I wonder if trained eyes pick things up quicker.

I also feel the VFX community needs a compositor's blog so please take a look at my humble attempt. I plan to make it a bit more controversial in future but it's been a really boring week. Next week I'm jumping out of a plane with a laptop and comping whilst free-falling 8000 feet.

Constructive comments appreciated! Cheers. And please forgive me for this shameless self promotion.

OK. I'll rephrase that. I think the VFX community need ANOTHER blog. Actually it probably doesn't but I'm bored waiting for scans so thought it would be fun.

I love your reel and can't wait to have as much experience!
Looks like you've landed some very fun projects too. Great work!

Hey augustc.. i am surprised to hear you say you cant wait to have as much experience! I saw your reel and it is more then complete including some mayor feature films (i.e. Narnia)! How long have you been working and where are you working now?

By the way dave your reel is looking really good to!

Well I've only been doing vfx for a couple of years...
He has 5 years under his belt and has training in other compositing packages that I do not yet know. I think the projects on his reel are great and I just meant that I can't wait to get on some better projects.. which will happen when I have some experience with some better (node based) compositing programs. I'm really just starting out.
Again, about his reel, I like how it was put together and several of the projects looked pretty challenging. I think its great.

Now i understand what you meant...

I agree with you.... His reel is put together very very nicely!

I guess all i can say is that both you and dave are BADASS compositors!!! And i just hope i can get to YOUR level!!

good job on both your reels!

It's better. Every compositor should have one. It makes roto a lot quicker and paint more natural. Going to write about it in my next blog.

Cool reel btw! Some really nice work and I liked the way you showed layer by layer how everything was done. And I especially liked the dancer
