    Hi there,

    SITUATION
My director is in the fase of writing a short. And we are already discussing the VFX we would like to work with.

For a specific scene I've surgested a frozen frame that we track around (like the bullet mode effect in matrix) and zoom in (like the effect I used with the stills - link follow), as if to investigate the scenario, like a police detective remembering, a frozen moment of time.

So what I want to do is combining the two effects. Bulletmode and the zoom effect. Here follows an image of the bulletMode rig and a link to the still zoom effect. Last follows my question.

    Picture of bulletMode rig:

    QUESTION
Now I know how the rig should work, but what I want to know is what are these rigs called? I need to search for them and maybe find a place where I can rent one.

So again: What is the rig used in matrix, for doing bulletMode effects called?

    Thank you.

    use photogrammetry as keyword.
I think it depends on the shot's length and on the action you want to freeze.
are you planning to shot film or digital?

    Digital (HD).

Thank you for the keywords. It is exactly what I want. To combine a timesplice effect with a panoramic effect (having each camera on the timesplice rig, also taking panoramic shots). That way I think I can dolly around an object, and at any angle of choice also do a nodal pan.

I think I will create the rig in a 3D app (maya) and render stills for testing. That way I can plan the actual shot and number of cameras in the final rig.

I dont know how much does it costs the rental, and also don't know details for your scene, but you can always find a compositing alternative.
