Theres a highly visited Thread about Fusion crashing all the time.
I had the same problem for example when using the timeline, trimming or just scaling a Pic in the viewer.
I found out the problem isnīt that rare. So I started a new thread.

    The reason is:
Since Fusion takes big advantage of OGL (no, needs OGL) you HAVE to have the newest graphic card drivers. Its that simple.

My crashing Fusion is running now like a rock. No hang-ups any more.
Hope this will help some of you.

    Thanks man!
But if anyone have more ideas to keep Fusion more stable, please be my guest and put it here.

I didn't know Fusion (5) was ever UNstable. I'm going on a year and a half using it and it has yet to crash on me... and most of that time was spent with only 1 gig of RAM.

God I love programs that work.

With standard format ok but, when you talk about stability and RAM usage, things change when you work with HD and 2K files.

Apparently 2K has been good to me then.

Wait, wait, the problem I mentioned is a problem for the new ones.
If you set up a new system for Fusion, and it is ridiculous unstable you should update your Graphcard drivers. Thats all. Other unstabilities I canīt talk about.
    And havenīt noticed yet.

This is quite funny, as Fusion does crash on me, well, daily. Most crashes are hard to repeat, I guess Fusion flow's internal state gets mangled sometimes. But then, I'm using timeline, and I guess that wasn't meant to be.

Btw, copy/pasting your flow to a new one can fix some problems (it did fix broken hold frames on loaders for me).

Drivers are newest NVidia has to offer for 6800GS (93.71).

    Hevonen,

You may be on to something here, because I don't know that many people who work (a lot)with the timeline in Fusion, so you may be right that it crashes more when using the timeline. If you find ways to reproduce the problem, please report it to Eyeon, because if they don't know it's broken, they can't fix it either.

I've reported few and will report more if I get reproducable test cases. Some kind of semi-public bug tracker would be nice, so I could check if these are known, fixed and closed.

Off-topic, but how do the rest of you handle timing of multiple clips with complex choreographies and timing?

What do you mean with 'complex choreographies and timing'?

I only work in Fusion one shot at a time most of the time, or isn't that what you mean?

The best way to work in the timeline (and spline view) is to make sure to have the "sel" button pressed, then highlight just the loaders/nodes you want to work with in the flow view. It cuts down on the problems, and simplifies the view.(you may have to manually change the hierarchy to get things to stack up neatly -as they would in a timeline app.) At least, that's how I use it to get a relative sense of timing for multiple keyframes/loaders/parameters. (mostly in motion grfx uses).

I mean multiple loaders with complex animation.

Thanks, I do use "sel", but it's a hassle to jump from tool to tool since I can't see the flow at the same time with timeline.

Hum hum, one-shot tool, well that makes it all painfully clear.
