Good work so far . How did you key the woman out? Luma ? I am struggling with that. The key comes out really bad.

This is only a mock up, or something to design to,
The key is a luma key in combustion with some matte controla on the alpha channel.
Been up most of last night rendering out smoke.
Will be using 3dsmax for the smoke and will have to animate a biped for the interaction which i've never done before.
Yet another WIP / mockup
Just spent the last day or so painting up clouds for the scene
5 layers of smoke sofar
I still havent done anything with the smoke...yet
but i have a few ideas it wont look like this smoke though
just noticed that the background stars is the wrong colour
i still have to change the lighting and shadows
if you compare the cauldrons high lights to the womans highlight it still way off.
probably do this in 3d
Do you think the flames are a bit to bright?
any crits are more than welcome
i would say that the smoke is looking really cool but the fire in the pots looks really fake... you also need to work on your key as i can see dark edges around the dancer
background looks sweet though!
the smoke i kinda found by accident
so i'll let people in on how I did it.
the fire is there to remind me that i have to do some fire
or i just might do hot coals
here's the smoke method im using in combustion
paint a tendril approximatly where the smoke goes
animate it and export as a filmstrip
open the filmstrip in photoshop
filter blur / shape blur
choose what ever amount and shape you think is best for your work.
save that as a filmstrip then import into your comp program
I dont have access to AE but if its in Photoshop CS2 it might be in the filters in AE
maybe someone can clarify this.

and another go
this is closer to the overall look im after,
I still haven't fixed the key
no flames ....yet
I also need to put something in the middle ground
and im not happy with the foreground cloud (faint blue one)
any crits welcome : )
another go after not having a chance for a while.
again no fire
almost done just have to add fire and new cauldons.
and shadow for the girl
finding it a bit tricky at the moment.
hopefully ill have time to finish it off
the clip has some time ramping done to it but didnt exactly work as i wanted.
wb, I'm sorry to hear about the bike incident..
that smoke looks really good. you've done it in fusion?
it would be interesting to finish the comp even if it's out of challenge.
keep us up to date![]()
hey it would be kool if you could change the transform mode or reduce the opacity of that fog layer in foreground. Then what about the background? I think you could change it to less stars image of sky, now its like too much of stars looks like galaxy? if that is the look you want then fine... Hey what about Stars wars Oracle? how about that?nice smoke by the way.. thats the thing I couldn't do in my entry since lack of time.. I spent too much time with atmosphere and mood of the scene but I think thats was my entry is all about...
Cheers man,
Looking forward to see your next WIP!

The smoke is done in 3d max.
using this method but using a cylinder rather than a cone.
http://www.suurland.com/tut_smoke/tu...e-smoke_r3.htm.
I had 3 cylinders with very slightly different settings
Yeah, I agree with you about the stars it is a bit full on.
Having trouble with the foreground clouds.
Will let you know how i go
ok new one
new BG
no clouds up front......yet
some interaction with the smoke near the start of the clip,
the compression killed my colour though.
added shadow for the girl but forgot to animate it...doh!!!!
still triing to do fire for the cauldron using fume in 3dsmax.
looking better so far.
thats kool but you need work on the smoke now it doesn't look like smoke.. I mean it doesn't got any wispy look to it.
Another go, added some fire to the cauldrons.
not quite right still but its kind of there just have to play around with the colour.
Im not liking the blue so far will change it back to orange fire and fix the colour on the smoke.
added shadow on girl which moves, still needs some fixing,
might re do it as its not that tricky
been staring at it at it to long........
